Yes, you will need to purchase a ADFG fishing license and a King stamp if you are on a King fishing trip. Halibut stamps are automatically purchased at time of your booking for any trip that provides Halibut fishing.

All Puffin Fishing Charters trips depart from the Seward Small Boat Harbor. We ask you to meet us at the Alaska Seafood Grill between 5:30am to 5:45am. The Grill will open at 5am and have coffee, quick breakfast options. Our crew will meet you there and walk you down to the boats. We will leave the dock promptly at 6am, returning between 4:30 and 6pm.

In Area 3A, halibut retention is closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays unless fishing under the GAF (Guided Angler Fish) program. On those days, we offer productive alternatives such as king salmon, rockfish, Pacific cod, and limited GAF halibut trips.

GAF allows guests to retain one halibut on normally closed days by using transferred commercial quota. These trips are limited and run on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

Absolutely. All vessels are U.S. Coast Guard–inspected and equipped with required safety gear, life rafts, heated cabins, and experienced professional crews.

Our crew handles fish carefully onboard. Local processors in Seward can fillet, vacuum-seal, freeze, and ship your catch. We recommend J Dock and will transport your fish to the top of the dock.

Yes. Fish processors can arrange shipping so your catch arrives home frozen and ready to enjoy.

Fishing runs from spring through late summer. Spring is great for king salmon and halibut, while late June through August offers excellent silver salmon and multi-species opportunities.
