Cancellation Policy

Cancellation & Refund Policy

To ensure fair scheduling for all guests during Alaska’s short fishing season, Puffin Fishing Charters operates on a prepaid, guaranteed reservation system. Please review the following policy carefully before booking.

Payment Terms

  • All remaining trip balances are due 30 days prior to your scheduled trip date.
  • Reservations not paid in full by this deadline may be subject to cancellation.

Weather Cancellations

  • If a trip is cancelled by Puffin Fishing Charters due to unsafe weather and the boat does not leave the dock, you will receive a 100% refund.
  • Puffin Fishing Charters reserves the right to determine weather-related cancellations.

Mechanical Cancellations

  • If a trip is cancelled due to mechanical issues, we will make every effort to place you on another vessel.
  • If an alternative cannot be arranged, you will receive a full refund.

Guest-Initiated Cancellations

All cancellations must be submitted by email only to: [email protected]
Phone cancellations will not be accepted. Office staff will contact you once email is received.
The cancellation date is based on when the email is received.

  • 30 days or more prior to trip date:
  • Refund of 90% of total reservation amount
  • Includes a 10% processing fee
  • Within 30 days of trip date:
  • All payments are forfeited
  • No refunds will be issued, however if the seats can be rebooked you will receive a 90% refund, less 10% processing fee

No Responsibility for Personal or Travel Issues

Puffin Fishing Charters cannot be responsible for:

  • Cancelled or delayed flights
  • Personal illness or injury
  • Vehicle breakdowns
  • Missed connections or other travel disruptions

For these reasons, we strongly recommend purchasing trip insurance.

Refund Processing & Fees

Please note:

  • Credit card refunds incur merchant processing fees and administrative costs
  • These costs are reflected in our cancellation fees and policies

Management Discretion

In certain circumstances, a gift card or reschedule option may be offered at management’s discretion in place of a refund. If this option is of interest, please request it at the time of cancellation.
